Words and me

Hi everyone, welcome to my new blog!

For the past few years I’ve had a web and print project called Optimology* through which I’ve explored aspects of culture and society, and particularly the power – and mutability – of language.

When I say language, I’m talking specifically about the English language, which – I’m ashamed to say – is the only language I speak. English has over time become the lingua franca, and is the language of business and code. It has inserted itself into use in other languages, often without translation.

I sometimes gather words together and juxtapose them within existing graphic vehicles in our physical landscapes, like signage, packaging or menus. These are some examples.
